Springer announces donation of new eBooks Collection to Loyola University
(NEW ORLEANS)--Springer will soon be launching a new program, the Springer eBooks Collection, and will donate access and archiving rights of more than 10,000 titles to six New Orleans universities. Springer, one of the world’s largest specialist publishing groups in science, technology, and medicine, made the announcement at the American Library Association’s conference taking place in New Orleans.
Since the ALA conference is one of the first major conferences to take place in the restored Morial Convention Center, Springer wanted to lend assistance to New Orleans as it rebuilds in the aftermath of Katrina. Through the eBooks donation, Loyola will have complete access to more than 10,000 of Springer’s scientific, technical, and medicine books in both fully searchable PDF and HTML. The collection makes research as fast and straightforward as possible by providing exceptional search capabilities and high resolution graphics. The eBook content has been integrated with Springer’s 1,200 peer-reviewed journals which are accessible via the relaunched SpringerLink (www.springerlink.com) platform.
Springer is one of the leading international scientific publishing companies. It is the largest science, technology and medicine (STM) book publisher in the world with a reputation for excellence spanning over 160 years. Springer publishes on behalf of more than 300 academic associations and professional societies worldwide. The company publishes over 1,200 journals and 3,500 new book titles each year, in addition to offering an array of online services such as the online information platform SpringerLink. Springer is part of the specialist publishing group Springer Science+Business Media, which owns 70 publishing companies in more than 20 countries throughout the world and employs some 5,000 people.
