This paper presents convincing but surprising evidence that lipid transfer proteins can induce the extension of plant cell wall cellulose xyloglucan composites in vitro. Whilst the in vivo significance of these observations is unclear, this work certainly raises interesting questions regarding mechanisms of plant cell wall extension.
